Hear the story about how Ms. Ringgold's first children's book, Tar Beach began as a painting and evolved into an award-winning children's book. Adults may request to hear the dramatic story of; The Bitternest Series, The Change Series or Street Story Quilt. Young children can sing "Anyone Can Fly", hear about Martin Luther King, If a bus Could Talk: the Story of Rosa Parks and Aunt Harriet’s Underground Railroad in the Sky. What a wonderful day we had yesterday. Faith was absolutely inspiring; the lecture was fantastic; we had a great audience for the lecture and the book signing went on from 9:30 to nearly midnight! Faith must be exhausted!

Dear Faith,
Words are inadequate to express the depth of our gratitude and appreciation for your impressionable 2- day visit at P.S. 181. The building is still buzzing with vibrant energy and enthusiasm. Your slide presentation and commentary was remarkable. The students literacy experience was deeply enriched by your visiting the classes and interacting with them via accountable talk and affording the students a forum for questions and answers. Your willingness to do so many autographs amazed me. A more formal acknowledgement will follow. Thanks also for your lovely donation of books to the students of P.S.181. My special thanks to Grace your assistant , for the insurmountable amount of time and energy she expended on this endeavor. We are eternally grateful for 2 UNFORGETTABLE days. race, it was such a pleasure to have Ms. Ringgold at our conference as the keynote speaker. I would reccommend having her speak to any group interested. We had over 400 people in the audience and the responses I got were that she was fabulous and very insightful. Many teachers would like a copy of the story she read at the beginning of her presentation. Is that available? I thoroughly enjoyed how she told the story of her life through her art. She was very generous with her time and was willing to take the later flight if there were books that still needed signed. I was glad to hear that she enjoyed what we planned for her birthday. Nebraska teachers were delighted to share her special day with her. I know the singers haven't forgot that Ms. Ringgold would like a recording of what they sung. They were honored to perform for her birthday. I would like to thank you also for your help and patience to make this conference a great success.

Here are some comments from our evaluations about the lecture:

Hello! I just returned last night from a Faith Ringgold appearance at Aquinas College and am just awestruck at the energy and inspiration Ms. Ringgold had.

I am interested in booking Ms. Ringgold for our school. If this is possible, please let me know the details of what we need to do. Thank you so very much!

Faith's visit to Grand Rapids and Aquinas College October 12th and 13th....
We are nothing but pleased with Faith's visit was a total success from our viewpoint.

If there is anything that I might suggest when Faith is scheduled to work with school children is to be sure to have the client get greater clarity on how much time is ideal for Faith to work with each age group. It did seem that she had planned more for her presentations with children than what our schedule allowed. More communication prior to the event about what the "ideal" schedule might be (when there are various age groups involved) would be helpful. We did have some AV issues during our school event which did not help the flow... obviously, that was a problem on our end, not Faith's.

I want to personally thank Faith for her visit here....I have heard numerous comments about what a "gift" we, as a Women's Studies group, gave the community with your visit are so inspiring to all you come in contact with. I'm thankful to have had the privilege of spending two days with you.

Dear Faith,
I so enjoyed meeting you and I feel as though I made a new friend. Your lectures, work and you are truly inspirational and I really believe anyone CAN fly!

The feedback from the teachers and students from both Shenandoah Middle School and Southside Elementary has been tremendous. I think they will never forget the day they "met" Ms. Faith Ringgold.

I will follow you and your work and wish you the best of luck with the launch of your new museum and school.
